Throne is an event management service. In a usually opaque cash business, it allows venue owners to understand what’s actually going on. They can use that information to improve the venues performance. They can also use the system to reward loyal patrons, promote events and handle orders.
Most of my time was spent working with the founders on implementing the many features and interactions in a discover-able and easy to manage way. This was especially important in interactions between devices and multiple types of users.

Examples of product’s user stories:
- As a person who is about to go out, I need a way to see what events my friends are attending so I can decide which one I want to go to.
- As a venue owner, I need to see how many tickets I sold tonight compared to other nights so I can assess which bands bring in the largest crowds.
- As a server, I need to ring people up via the app so they can take advantages of the special offers and split checks easily.

We explored possible directions for the look and feel through mood boards. The app needed to be compelling to a young nightlife crowd but still refined and attractive enough to be taken seriously by high-end venues as well as their owners. We elicited feedback from potential customers and selected the largest panel seen here.
Note: The visuals established in the final product were in line with the earliest version of iOS flat design styles from that time.
